“Boots on the ground”, eh? And where are they going to come from, when they enter Iran? Coming by sea would be unwise. They might be sunk before they even see the land. To the West is the Persian Gulf – unwise to try to cross it. To the North are Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan. Possible – perhaps the only possible routes. But those parts of Iran are the closest to Russia. Would Russia sit and watch Iran being invaded? In the East there are Afghanistan and Pakistan.
