I am mildly surprised that Mr Mercouris, like many other commentators, continues to echo Adolf Hitler’s statement of 1941 that “We have only to kick in the front door and the whole rotten edifice will come tumbling down”.
As Hitler was speaking of the planned attack on the USSR in Operation Barbarossa, the connotations are incongruous, discordant, and alarming.
I would say that Hitler made what may be the biggest geopolitical blunder in recorded history when he sent his army East in September, 1939, This is what happens when hubris overrides common sense. He should have been promoting peace instead.
Of course the circumstances of a live speech are difficult and trying, and one tries to make allowances. But I do wish Messrs Christoforou and Mercouris would try harder to avoid transposing the names of the parties – e.g. speaking of “the Israeli attacks on Israel” or “the Iranian killing of Iranian generals”, etc. (I don’t quote directly, but that is the general effect).
The Americans are no more trustworthy than the Israelis. They both are duplicitous and practiced liars.
Isn’t everyone sick of these ‘agencies’ like the IAEA telling the world what to do? It is evident it’s a mouthpiece for the West and Iran is right not to trust anything it comes out with. It seems to be safest not to sign treaties with any Western country as they have no intention of keeping their side of the bargain and just take it as a licence to cheat and a means to obtain information to pass on to their sponsors As the majority of the world is saying at the moment ‘GO IRAN’, we’re all praying for you.
