On July 5th, Mark Sleboda makes this clear — that Iran must accept the offers of Russia and China to back Iran up against the U.S. empire, who are determined to get Iran back as being a part of the U.S. empire:

This confirms what I had said on July 1st (the same thing), headlining “Mercouris Explains Possibility of Russia and China Becoming Iran’s Protector”: “for Iran to … accept the Russian-Chinese offers would require changes in the Iranian Constitution. This is decision-time in Iran, forced upon it because of Trump’s decision to back Israel 100%, for regime-change in Iran. … I therefore dismiss that option [the alternative — capitulation to America and Israel — effectively regime-change in Iran], regardless of whether some Iranians really ARE supporting it.” In other words: Regardless of whether or not Iran’s Government wants to do this (including to amend its Constitution — which prevents any alliance with any foreign country), the alternative for Iran, as a soverign nation, would be death — absorbance back into the U.S. empire (such as was the case during the period from America’s having grabbed Iran via a coup in 1953, to the 1979 overthrow of the American-stooge Iranian regime). Iranians, after Trump bombed Iran on June 12th, are now more united than ever against reverting back to being controlled from Washington. And the ONLY way that Iran can avoid that fate wuld be for Iran to join in alliance with Russia and China. Trump’s bombing of Iran on June 12th makes that clear.
Whereas Mercouris was ambiguous about which path Iran ought to take, Sleboda is not, and I agree with his view, that Iran is going to need to ally either with America and Israel, or else to ally with Russia and China, and that for Iran to ally with America and Israel would be the death of Iran, whereas allying with Russia and China would not, but would preserve almost all of Iran’s sovereignty.
Sleboda makes clear that America’s Iran policy under Trump is basically the same as was America’s Iran-policy under Biden, but that Trump’s bombing of Iran on June 12th has proven to Iranians that there is no way that Iranians can have any trust whatsoever in what the U.S. Government says, and that if Iran will NOT ally with Russia and China, then the U.S. and Israel will achieve their objective of conquering Iran. It will be either alliance with Russia and China, or else the death of Iran. I agree with Sleboda: Iran is now forced to make a choice.
America is a Might-makes-right country (and has been so ever since 25 July 1945); and, finally, in Trump’s second term, whatever nations might be able to tilt the balance are going to have to choose sides. America and Israel will complete their genocide of the Gazans; nothing is, or will be, done to stop it; but individual nations that are not yet in the U.S. empire, are needing to make this ultimate decision for themselves; and if Iran won’t choose, then America and Israel will make it instead of Iran, and Iran will die.

The Iranians know exactly what they are doing, as they learned the lesson, that Bashar al-Assad never publicly recognised.
The Russians made a deal with the then Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, to station Russian Air defence systems in Syria, and fully amalgamate Syria’s soviet era Air defence systems, into the more advanced Russian system, on the condition, that the Syrians would only shoot down incoming Israeli rockets and missiles, and not target the Israeli fighter Jets that were launching the armaments.
This contract was analogous to a pact with the devil, and an insidious kiss of death to the state of Syria, as the Russian Air defence systems, were capable of shooting down, 90 -95% of the incoming Israeli missiles, but with the clause, that they could not target the Israeli aircraft’s launching the missiles, the Syrians would loose 5 -10% of the intended Israeli targets, on every Israeli attack on Syria.
The greater part of the times that the Israelis attacked Syrian targets, they launched their missiles from within Lebanon or even Israeli airspace, but the Israeli Aircraft could have been shot down over Lebanon and northern Israel, with Syria’s soviet era S-200 long-range anti-aircraft missile system, and many times the Israelis flew into Syrian airspace, to attack Syrian targets, and they would have been sitting ducks, if the Russians did not prevent the Syrians from shooting down the Israeli/US aircraft’s.
This course of action, that Syria agreed with Russia, would turn into an insidious war of attrition, that could have only one winner over time, as the Israeli/US multi million dollar Aircraft’s, would never be shot down, and the Israeli missiles that were been shot down, were a fraction of the cost of the Israeli fighter jets, and much easier to replace.

I agree that Iran must ally with Russia and China, so it was disturbing to see Pezeshkian hobnobbing with the leaders of Azerbaijan and Turkiye recently. A brief Wikipedia glance says that Pezeshkian’s parents are Iranian-Azerbaijani, and he considers himself and his parents to be Turks. Even taking Wikipedia with a ton of salt, if this is true, and knowing how Pezeshkian has always harbored fantasies of joining the West, it’s far from certain that he will make the right choice for Iran.
