These ‘military analysts’ who write for magazines, frequently mistake having the largest army (as per the US) as meaning the strongest. The fact that the 750 U.S. bases in some 80 countries and colonies around the world are frequently staffed with obese, doughnut eating pen pushers does not equate to a modern, efficient, battle-hardened, highly trained military. I had a friend in the USAF over 40 years ago and I visited her on bases in California, NY State and Germany. On each occasion we ate in the base MacDonald’s and these were huge places, full of customers.

Perhaps Tim wants to point out that US military as good as forced to consume McDonald’s Whoppers on its military bases turns US soldiers eventually in Whoppers themselves, thus too obese and unfit for combat. Either pure stupidity, or else a hidden agenda I am not aware of.

The point is that there are that many points of U.S. military influence in the world.
The US’s greatest ‘strength’ and ‘influence’ (if you can call it that) is the ability to print money and entice proxy armies to do their fighting and dying for them. Their actual military is mostly used as guards for their hardware and their oil/gas/mineral assets worldwide. And finding countries stupid enough to host their nuclear missile silos.
