America is not about to stop making trouble for Syria and Iran. They’re following the Thomas adage: “Do not go gentle into that good night”
By doing that – “not about to stop making trouble for Syria and Iran” – they are signing, definitely Europe’s, but also their own, death warrant. A flare up of fighting in the Middle East (which I am sure Putin, and probably Xi, are softly urging), will stop 50%(?) of non-Eurasian oil being shipped to Western economies through the Strait of Hormuz. This will send the price of oil in both Europe, the USA, and the wider world through the roof, and add further to the recession/depression-inducing financial crisis in the West. Regardless of the outwardly communicated rationale for France and Spain to visit China, a real possibility is that members of the EU want to abandon nato and join BRICS or a newly formed organization where they can escape the dangers of association with and domination by the unreliable, deteriorating U.S.
