The current situation in which a fierce campaign is being conducted under the fighting programme set forth at the historic 8th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) to win a fresh victory in socialist construction despite all the manifold challenges calls for revolutionizing cadres, the backbone of the country, and strengthening their ranks with select ones by more clearly preserving the militant nature of our Party advancing in struggle.

I’ll read this later, but the headline caused me to pause: “Skinny Kim” and “Gaunt Kim” – really? I looked up the word “gaunt” – just to make sure, and the dictionary gave me the following definition of gaunt: “gaunt – adjective 1.    (of a person) lean and haggard, especially because of suffering, hunger, or age. Similar: haggard, drawn, cadaverous, skeletal, emaciated, skin-and-bones, skinny, spindly, thin, over-thin, size-zero, lean, rawboned, without an ounce of fat” What an odd word to use to describe the fat boy with the funny hairdo pictured above – not exactly size zero, or spindly or over-thing.… Read more »

The tendency to blame the lower cadres and party officials for massive problems which occur in communist regimes – like the mass starvation of millions of people in China, is classic. Mao did it during the years of the cultural revolution. Such dictators set up a hierarchical system of sycophancy and fear, along with punitive policies of ‘shooting the messenger’ so that any negative feedback coming from the ground up is either ignored, or the person bearing the bad news is accused of being a ‘capitalist roader’ or as resistant to the sacrifices necessary to fulfil communist ideology. Ergo, millions… Read more »

Their aim is to have a well-paid job for life and expand opportunities for themselves, their families and their class. Hence, the proliferation of parliaments, legislatures, quangos and NGOs. The supreme example is the EU. No matter how badly you do, you will be promoted. In old style Communism ( USSR, Mao’s China, North Korea ), the regime’s dirty work is handled by the cadre of middle… Read more »

Finally found time to read it. The first thoughts that come to my mind upon learning that this grossly obese 5 foot 7 inches tall man, weighing 308 pounds last year, finally lost 40 pounds (20 kg), would be to conclude that his doctors Finally convinced him to go to a fat farm and lose some weight, unless he wished for an early death. This theory becomes even more likely during the time of Covid, when experts agree that the No. 1 risk factor for coming down with and dying from the disease is obesity. A short man weighing in… Read more »

Kim has a American disease,Obesity, which =type 2 diabetes,of course the man should be losing weight, a man in the prime of life and can’t do 10 press-ups has serious problems…p.s., It wasn’t Covid that killed soo many young or relatively young people in the US and UK,it was poor eating habits leading to compromised health, and inability to ward of disease..
