I get a sense that Jim’s perspective on navel warfare around Taiwan is a bit misguided. Unlike the US, Taiwan is not on the other side of the planet for China, it’s right next door. To be frank, China doesn’t even need a navel fleet to blockade the island. All they have to do is drop a couple hundred thousand mines around the island to put a stop to everything. It is well within China’s ability to “guard” Taiwan airspace from the mainland. It is more likely that Taiwan’s biggest treat will be the US, as they have already said… Read more »

Christmas or Thanksgiving? Oh wait, you mean “Threat”
Got it! 🙂
If it is true that Elise Stefanik has been selected for UN envoy, that would be a big disappointment. There are so many good people for Trump to add to his team, so for him to lower the bar (as it appears) after everything that has happened, shows that he still hasn’t figure it out. Russia was right?
Coriolanus.
It’s not really “your continent – Europe”. For a start, Europe isn’t really a continent; it’s more an excrescence on the edge of Eurasia. It’s rather like Kamchatka, India, SE Asia, or Arabia. Perhaps the Ukraine is about half in Europe, half in Asia; and Russia could reasonably claim the eastern half.
Mr Putin has an especially difficult position vis a vis Israel. With a large and highly influential Jewish population in Russia, and a lot of Russian emigres in Israel, he has a very strong interest in keeping on the right side of Israel. But the Israelis are testing his loyalty to the breaking point.
Why then has russia just signed a defense pact with Iran?
In answer to a question, Jim Webb (who made a really good impression on me) suggested that the USA needs to get some concession from Russia in order to extricate itself from the Ukraine mess. I wonder why the Russians should help Washington, which has done so much to harm them.
Jim Webb speaks some truth, but he is basically full of crap. No good people go to Washington DC. No good people go to the military. Both are evil institutions, and evil attracts evil. People who end up as Congressional staffers and lobbyists are recruted, it is not a random process. There is a farm system for politics just as there is for professional sports, and the candidates are tracked as early as high school. Just as athletic ability is a prerequisite for placement in the sports field, and lack of ethics and morality are prerequisites for recrutement for politics.… Read more »
Another deluded American. Russia will decide what happens in Ukraine. If Trump hands Russia what it wants then Russia will accept, if not then Russia will not. What is America actually going to do? Send more weapons?
Thanks and well done, gentlemen! One of your best shows – which is high praise indeed. I am worried about Jim Webb, though; how can he be 2 years older than me? I thought he looked in his 40s! (Or was that his son?)
Victory Plan? How about a Surrender Plan?
Call it a win? How about calling it a big mistake and nominating the entire Biden Administration to the Hall of Shame.
