I don’t think the Russians want to be seen as “a great power”. They just want to be treated fairly.
They certainly are a great power, and heading (along with what will be their permanent buddy China) to become even more so, as The West recedes (which clearly is happening and has been for decades now). But as you say, they just want to be treated fairly — NOT like the U.S. Government does: to boss the rest of the world, and to do it by divine right.
“Electroshock” being performed upon Europe – would it be for resuscitation or for torture? Maybe both are needed!
