If the EU sanctioned Aeroflot there’s no reason why Russia would automatically retaliate by sanctioning European airlines. Russia could just send the EU gang a little note: Dear EU, we understand that you are planning to sanction Aeroflot to help reduce GHG emissions according to your climate change commitments, and that your goal is divestment from fossil fuels. With this in mind, we’re going to help support your highly commendable green initiatives by cutting off gas supplies. From Russia, with love.
