It has been a war since 2014 and before – but not as we know it, Jim (sorry, Janet). It’s different in a whole lot of ways, and one of the tricky questions is which of those ways really matter, and which don’t. For a start it’s Russia alone against the USA, NATO, and some other nations, plus the UN, the EU, the Western media, etc. Militarily, Ukraine is a sideshow, so the Russians have to guard against being blindsided by a sneak attack while they are focused too much on Ukraine. These scattered Ukrainian attacks may not make much military sense, but they are the weapons of the weak.
Sure…Russia droned the Kremlin themselves…just like they blew up Nordstream. The trouble is that if these Ukrainian saboteurs speak Russian like natives then it’s difficult to track them down. I’m sure the FSB will do their best. My radar is pinging away on the Wagner article. Prigozhin may be an outspoken egotist but I doubt that he and RT would tell the world that Wagner are running out of ammunition and in danger of being overwhelmed. Russia did all the heavy lifting in WWII, losing what 6-8 million soldiers to defeat Hitler? Denigrating May 9 Victory Day is disgusting. I am ashamed.

The drones, as depicted in the opening videos, carried very small explosive charges. So small, that if they struck during the day, the explosions would be hard to see. I estimate that 2 M80s (an available firecracker about the power of 1/4 stick of dynamite) would produce that amount of detonation.. This is not the serious destructive work of a sophisticated actor.
