Russians, you would assume, would have AA battery’s at every critical airfield. This was incredibly dumb. What’s the point of complaining about missiles being planted on Ukrainian territory, a threat to Moscow, and yet you can’t even defend this?

There seems to be something too improbable about a drone as unsophisticated as the culprit drone seems to have been, hitting the major air force facility of the country which produces the s-300, s-400 and s-500 systems (et. al.) when that facility had so many valuable assets stationed there, during wartime.

Overall, I think the probe achieved little in real military terms, except to sharpen Russia in terms of surveillance perhaps, but against what, at the border, cannot include all potential low flying missiles. In general, not every scenario can be watched for, and an unusual probe with a few low flying missiles does not represent the main threat to watch out for.  There are obviously some clever advisors to the Ukrainian military, who decided to employ such drones to probe the Russian territorial surveillance on the basis of perceived chance of success. In fact, domestic military protection (defense) is, AT ALL TIMES, the priority in Russia, far beyond defence policy of the USA and UK. We well know that Russia refused to deploy troops that were required for domestic protection, and sees that as its highest military priority. It follows , that is why a draft of reserves was required to increase troop presence in Ukraine. Defence also includes air defence. Such knowledge of Russian defence priority has been explicitly stated at times by Russian representatives, and you yourselves here hosted guests that have stated it too.
