Patrolling the Mexican border was the US Army’s primary mission until 1940, when the American empire began a massive expansion. President Donald Trump recently ordered 6000 American troops BACK to the Mexican border to actually defend the United States. American Generals sent their quick reaction units from the Marines and 82nd Airborne to the border.
This is just temporary as the culture of American military officers is to prepare for wars overseas. They have no plans to permanently station border troops to defend the United States, even though there are several US military bases along the border to host units. After a few months, Generals will state their units must leave the border to train and prepare for overseas wars, only to have the mass illegal immigration problem reoccur.
It is time for the US Army to resume its historical mission and permanently assign a division with 12,000 soldiers (less than 2% of its manpower) to defend America at the border. Article VI: Section 4 of the US constitution states: ”The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion. A million foreigners illegally pouring across the border into states each year is clearly an invasion.
