The relentless decline in production of diesel and jet fuels, and the relentless decline in Energy Return On Energy Invested, or Exergy, both tell us so. The admiral with whom Mr Johnson spoke may have recently seen “Top Gun: Maverick”. I watched that to see just how bad it could be, and I was impressed. The daring US airmen fly right into Iran or wherever, blow up their targets, and shoot down everyone who gets in the way.
Reading about First Bull Run in Fletcher Pratt’s “Ordeal by Fire” at about the age of 12, I clearly remember being mystified that the Confederates didn’t just follow the defeated Union soldiers all the way into Washington DC.
