Speaking as someone who utterly despises what the USSA has become in the last, oh, let’s say last 70 years or so, I completely understand the concept of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Notwithstanding this, I have to resist the urge of automatically assuming that Putin MUST be the “good guy” in this geopolitical debacle. I would expand 70 years to 120 years, unless you think The Federal Reserve, Balfour Declaration, WWI, and WWII were positive ventures for America. As far as “Good vs Bad” (the word Evil is routinely misused), one has to distinguish between the individual as a person and the result of their activities. In fact, good people are often weak when it comes to their actions, and bad people tend to be the agressive psychopaths who push their way forward. The world is so incredibly lucky to have Putin in charge of Russia. Thanks to his intelligence and patience, knowledge of history and foresight, and most of all, decency that the collective west entirely lacks, he has saved us many times from WW3 with the rabid neocons, who’ve endlessly provoked him for decades with increasing belligerence, recklessness and psychotic behavior.
