BEIJING (Sputnik) – China has offered Russia to form an electric power industry program in power generation, trade and joint projects, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said.

“The Chinese colleagues expressed the idea of forming a coherent program of cooperation in the electric power industry, which would cover all directions – both trade and generation, including implementation of joint projects in this area. We will work on this,”

Dvorkovich told reporters, following the session of the bilateral intergovernmental commission in Beijing.

The deputy prime minister added that the supply in the electricity sector was stable.

“The structure of electricity production in China is changing gradually, [the share of] coal is decreasing, other sources are increasing, so we have more progress in nuclear power now, and negotiations are under way on new projects. Chinese partners are investing in renewable energy,”

Dvorkovich added.
