Chas Freeman expects all-out war between USreal and Iran to start at any moment. A second carrier group is arriving in the area, B2 bombers are in Diego Garcia. This is not going to be a publicity stunt or a case of “TACO Trump”. I do not know how Chas can be so sure of this. By all accounts, such a war will be an utter catastrophe for all concerned.. Trump really doesn’t want a real war with Americans coming home in body bags. He might try something like he did in Venezuela, decapitate the Iranian government by killing or kidnapping Ayatollah Khamenei, but I think such an operation would be very unlikely to succeed, and would lead to all-out war anyway if it is tried.

Mr Freeman observes that the American people are remarkably restrained. As I see it, they don’t want to risk what they have – even if they see it gradually draining away.
