BREAKING: Russia calls Trump’s bluff – Lavrov says US afraid of attacking North Korea

Lavrov cited the model of mutually assured destruction, which ultimately prevented nuclear conflict during the Cold War era.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has dramatically called the bluff of the US President who just hours ago threatened North Korea with regime change after North Korea delivered a strongly worded rebuttal of Trump’s UN speech at the General Assembly.

The Tweet repeated a slightly modified version of Trump’s “Rocket Man” insult.

However, while many are panicking over a war of words between nuclear powers, Sergey Lavrov has stated that the “mutually assured destruction” model of deterrence will ultimately work out in the interests of peace.

The Russian Foreign Minister stated,

“Americans won’t strike Korea, because not only do they suspect, but know for sure that Pyongyang has nuclear weapons”.

He continued,

“Regarding this issue, President Putin has repeatedly said it was impossible to imagine that the US or someone else has 100 percent information on all of the (nuclear) objects”.

This remark implies that Russia believes North Korea’s nuclear capacity to be stronger than many believe it to be. This is crucial as no country is fully aware of the specific nature of North Korea’s nuclear weapons capacity.

He added words of extra caution however, given the unpredictable nature of the current US President.

Lavrove said,

“…the situation could spiral out of control, so that thousands, dozens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands innocent people will suffer in South Korea, as well as in the North, certainly in Japan, with Russia and China nearby too”.

The deeply irresponsible remarks made by Donald Trump, threatening to completely destroy North Korea have many worried, but Russia’s Foreign Minister seems assured that the US is too scared to attack a country that can fight back with nuclear weapons.

This is in line with previous remarks of  Russian President Vladimir Putin who reminded the world during the recent Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, that North Korea’s weapons programme is a natural result of the very legitimate fears that if defenceless, North Korea could be invaded in the way the US invaded Iraq in 2003 and Libya in 2011.

I think Lavrov’s statement characterising the threats exchanged by Kim and Trump as fight between children in kindergarden, irresponsible. First of all Russia and China should have vetoed any UNSC resolutions against DPRK. Second of all they should have issued a joint statement notifying the rogue nation USA, in no uncertain terms, that any attempt to attack DPRK, would be considered as an attack against Russia and China requiring full retaliatory response. The fact that Russia did not do any of the above shows how compromised Russia really is. It’s economic model following the IMF’s and US’s Treasury Department playbook,… Read more »

You have chosen an appropriate pseudonym. Armchair generals who claim to be smarter than Putin or Lavrov or Shoigu ceased to be entertaining long ago.

You should put yourself up for election in Russia and see how the Russian people feel about your ideas………
President Putin and his team are simply a reflection of the aspirations of the Russian people.. Perhaps you could offer something better to them…. 😉

Terry Ross I have no aspirations to run for President of Russia. I do however hope that the Communist party of Russia wins the next elections, and be able to stop the corruption, dismantle the fifth column, arrest the oligarchs kleptocrsts, and Plutocrats who became billionaires overnight during the drunkard Yeltsin predidency, who put on the auction block all the public assets of the USDR, for pennies on the dollar for local and foreign investor thieves. Nationalize the private thieving companies, kick out the Rothschild banks and establish a Central Bank that prints it’s own money independent of foreign influence… Read more »

You are really ignorant. Both Russia and China have stated that they would not tolerate a foreign power attacking DPRK except in self-defense. ONLY if DPRK fires first, then DPRK is on it’s own. “If the US and South Korea carry out strikes and try to overthrow the North Korean regime and change the political pattern of the Korean peninsula, China will prevent them from doing so.” “China will stop America if it attacks North Korea first” “Both Russia and China condemned North Korea’s missile test. But both countries firmly ruled out the use of force as a solution to… Read more »

Hahaha PJ London the only ignorant here it’s you reciting sound bites from the whore MSM. Russia and China as I have stated are compromised. Therefore ameanable to gross scale extortion, sanctions, coersion, blackmail etc by the syndicate of organized crime called US government, this collection of thugs, mobsters, racketeers and global terrorists. Russia and China have zero leverage against the rogue nation USA, which can sanction them with impunity if they do not do as they are told. And China and Russia with their tails between their legs oblidge. And so the rest of the vassal nations of the… Read more »

It is interesting to see the comments on Trumps Twitterfeed to his threat against Kim and NK…many people seem to agree with Lavrov:

He is also very aware of that NK doesn’t have a any nukes – neither does US or Russia. Show me one shred of evidence of a nuclear explosion – ever. And please not Hiroshima/Nagasaki, they were fire bombed just like any significant city in Japan built of wood & paper. No ground zero – no nothing.

This is just a charade to keep the sheeple at bay.
