“Rus Takes Villages” Whoa. The ‘experts’ amongst The Duran’s readership have assured me that “taking territory” is not the objective here, but rather attrition. Anyone who remembers high school history could name many examples. Since you ask for only one, how about the War of 1812? The British fought a war at sea, landed expeditionary forces in the USA, burned Washington, then went home.
The villages and towns in question are in Donbass or other regions that have now become part of Russia. Other things being equal, naturally the Russians want to recapture those places and liberate their (now Russian) citizens.
If, on the other hand, the Ukrainians put huge effort and resources into an offensive, the Russians are willing to cede some territory in return for a sufficient toll in Ukrainian lives and materiel – after which they will capture the territory anyway.
If one word were chosen to sum up military strategy, it would be “flexibility”.

According to the Duran and their sources, Ukraine’s military has been on the verge of collapse for many Months now.
But collapse never seems to happen.
We just continue to hear about every little five hovel “village” that the Russians capture.
I think the Duran overemphasizes Russian Intel.
Collapse would have happened long ago if only the US/UK/EU etc. stopped sending $billions and huge amounts of weapons to Ukraine, thus prolonging the inevitable.

Having served in the U.S. military, I can tell you that Lt. Col. Rank in the U.S. Military is a dime a dozen, especially after 21 years. It takes no special sacrifice or skill.
Even less so if you’re in a War Zone like Lt. Col Daniel Davis was.
To cite this guy as some sort of expert on something besides sucking butt to get his medals is sad.
