Re Erdogan and Turkey holding out for what they can extract from the US and EU in exchange for not vetoing Sweden & Finland membership.
I’m not even sure if Turkey has even wanted to continue pursuing EU membership the past few years, but this is Turkey’s opportunity to do so now. And very, very favourable conditions to wit. Then again, how many EU member states would veto that?
I think Erdogan will make the American and EU pips squeak somewhat with what he’ll demand from them.
Why would Erdogan want EU membership? All that the unelected, undemocratic, anti-democratic miscreants in Brussels do is steal member states’ sovereignty and impoverish them. If he cares at all about Turkey he’ll keep is country out of the EU.

Joining the European Union is like joining a suicide cult. I don’t know why any well run nation would want to do that.

Perhaps Russia will give Erdogan a better offer than Nato can do. Turkey would be smart to get out of that crumbling rat’s nest in Europe and go with Russia and the eastern bloc.
