When the Taiwan question is resolved and the US truly accepts China’s rise instead of threatening China’s core interests, China’s strategic need to strengthen national security through increased nuclear deterrence would be greatly reduced.

Dear Mr and Mrs Russia and China. You should give up you nuclear weapons, because the Planet is safe with only America and it’s allies having them. Ask the native Americans about trusting them.
There are quite a few nations that would have a few words to say about the untrustworthy US. As Russia says, the US is agreement incapable.
You summed it up well, Alexander, when you call what the US had done “schoolboy tactics”. It’s about on a par with the silly sorts of plots that Hollywood devises to entertain the masses but that shouldn’t be used on the world stage because they are patently transparent to anyone with a modicum of intelligence. The Chinese are far too intelligent and wise to be bamboozled by the United States, and they have every cause to feel both angry and insulted by its attempted political trickery.
