Amb. Chas Freeman: Only Diplomacy Can Open Hormuz

Trump has lost contact with reality and is making it up as he goes along. Whatever he says, and whether he believes and what he says or not, Netanyahu and the Israel Lobby are in control of our government. But Trump is desperate to find a way out of the war before the midterm elections. The only real solution to the conflict in West Asia is an international conference recognizing the Iranian management over the Strait of Hormuz. If this does not happen under the auspices of the UN because of US veto power, then it can happen at an international conference outside the UN. The whole world needs Hormuz open, even Europe, which is led by Spain in having a foreign policy independent of the US. The best hope in this situation is for Israel and its asset Trump to lose control over the US government going into the midterms. Unfortunately, we do not have a real diplomat of the caliber of Chas Freeman to send to such negotiations, and Chas is way too old.
