“Democratic socialism” is surging in the Democratic party. Abdul El-Sayed had a big win in Michigan aganst huge amounts of Zionist money. It is now popular to oppose war, and especially war for the benefit of Israel. These new candidates advocate progressive policies such as universal health care instead of financing a grotesque military budget that benefits no one but arms dealers and the congressmen they pay for passing huge military budgets. But how real are these “Democratic socialists” Are they prepared to really stand up to the imperialists, or are they just sheepdogs rounding up dissenters and returning them to the same old political system? I think the difference will become clearer when the coming depression hits. Will it cause a return to the real social democratic party of FDR, whose administration did accomplish many genuinely progressive things such as Social Security and Glass-Steagall bank regulation. They do ride a tide of antiwar and anti-Zionist public opinion.
