Surovikin is Back!

Surovikin is back in command! General Sergey Surovikin is the man who reconfigured the Russian effort into a war of attrition after the collapse of the peace talks in 2022. He retreated and created the Survikin defense line against the AFU offensive starting in the summer of 2023, which proved to be a complete failure. His command came to an end for political reasons, because he made the mistake of supporting Yevgeny Prigozhin, an oligarch and friend of Putin who formed the mercenary Wagner Group, which he eventually led in a mutiny against Putin. Prigozhin died, but Surovikin was merely banished to Africa to do very useful operations with what remained of the Wagner group. Now “General Armageddon” has been brought back to finish off Ukraine.
