Jeffrey Sachs: The Greater Israel Project is Collapsing

Jeffrey Sachs says that the “Greater Israel” project is immoral by universal human standards and is doomed to failure. He does support an “Israel” that the UN recognized in 1948, which involved a state of Palestine existing side by side with Israel. However, he is beginning to weaken on that position, saying that this may be no longer possible, and that a single democratic state may be the only answer. That is what I have long believed. The problem is Zionism itself, the idea of a “Jewish state” in Palestine. It is logically incoherent and historically false. It is a concoction of the British Empire that conned a lot of Jews. As Mark Twain and others have observed, it is easier to con a man than to convince him he has been conned. But now, Jews all over the world are opening their eyes to the danger of Zionism, and those still living in Israel are having a hard time maintaining their delusion as they find themselves relentlessly bombed and universally detested.
