MacGregor: the world is always changing, but the West’s policies are stuck in the past. NATO is falling apart. Trump says he won’t take Greenland by force. If that is true, Denmark can just say no and there is nothing Trump can do. I think these military folks are not considering that Trump can just buy Greenland and put economic pressure on Denmark to sell at a bargain price. I think that’s what he meant and that’s what he is going to do. As Lavrov just pointed out, Greenland has been a colonial possession and does not really “belong” to Denmark anyway. I would say that it belongs to its 60,000 residents, and if Trump is going to buy it, he should buy it from the residents, not the Danes. He should not give them a penny. Russia is backing Trump’s acquisition of Greenland for many reasons, such as that it is splitting the US from European NATO and the EU.
