Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro targeted in a drone assassination attempt (Video)

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro says he has survived an assassination attempt involving explosive drones during a military event in Caracas.

Live footage of his speech shows the president suddenly looking upwards in terror as dozens of soldiers break formation and scatter.

Maduro has blamed Colombia for the attack and elements within the US of instigating “a right-wing plot” to kill him.

Maduro added that he had “no doubt” Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos was “behind this attack”.

The Colombian government has denied any involvement, saying there is “no basis” to Maduro’s allegations.

Venezuelan authorities have reported that seven soldiers were injured in the attack, and several people were later arrested.

A speech by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro at an army commemoration event was abruptly cut off due to a reported assassination attempt using several drones packed with explosives, injuring seven National Guard soldiers. The extent of their injuries is not known, however they are reportedly receiving medical care.

In live footage, Maduro and officials standing behind him can be seen looking up as an explosion is heard in the distance, after which soldiers can be seen running in disarray before the transmission ends.

Maduro was giving a speech in the capital of Caracas during a celebration of the National Guard’s 81st anniversary. He was wearing the presidential banner.

“To the conscious Venezuela, we are going to bet for the good of our country, the hour of the economic recovery has come and we need…,” Maduro was saying before the cameras quickly moved away from him.

Maduro was standing next to his wife Cilia Flores and several high-ranking military officials for the event.

A video shows Flores wince, and both she and Maduro look up after an unidentified sound.

Speaking on state television, Information Minister Jorge Rodriguez confirmed that it was an assassination attempt, and that Maduro was evacuated from the scene.

“Today’s attempt has failed and the people stand by Maduro,” said Rodriguez.

According to the Associated Press, firefighters at the scene disputed the government’s version of events.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, three of them said the incident was actually a gas tank explosion inside an apartment, but did not provide further details.

Venezuelan journalist Roman Camacho reported on Twitter, citing “unofficial sources,” that a drone loaded with the explosive C4 was detonated near the presidential box, and that several army cadets were injured.

Maduro was speaking at the 81st anniversary celebration of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) when the incident took place. We expect allegations that this was a false flag to emerge at any moment, as it’s not that hard to fly a drone if one knows what they’re doing.

Everybody around the world can correctly guess that the main instigators behind this is the CIA !!! The dirty rotten Americans will not stop until they get their puppets into power and in control of Venezuela , who just happen to have the largest oil reserves in the American continent !!!

With the ME rapidly falling out of their control, the seppos MUST get control of Venezuelan oil fields NOW, before it’s too late.

Maduro should have his police round up the idiots who said it was a gas explosion. The people who are saying that are probably paid stooges by United States to cover the USA”s ass!

Thumbs down, President Maduro did not “look up in terror,”

Damn that’s great propaganda for the CIA.

Unfortunately the Venezuela leadership must divert resources to the people in order to stay in power with the support of the people. It is like the Cuban revolution.

It would be better if they could subsidize capitalism but that would lose the support of the people. They need investment.
