Thunberg, an attention seeking poser

Last week, Greta Thunberg tweeted out a photo of herself, saying she was aboard an overcrowded train and that she was heading home. Sitting on the presumably cold, dirty floor of the train, surrounded by large, presumably heavy bags, she’s looking to the left and up, to the right in the viewer’s perspective, symbolizing a look into the future – as the light of hope falls on her angelic face. By presumably I mean suggestively – that’s what the picture’s author tried to convey to the viewer. The trick is all about shaping people’s assumptions and perceptions.

“Travelling on overcrowded trains through Germany.” The part in bold to anyone reads as a complaint. Train company Deutsche Bahn noticed Greta’s tweet and replied in German [the following is the English translation], “Dear #Greta, thank you for supporting us railroad workers in the fight against climate change! We were pleased that you were on the ICE 74 with us on Saturday. And with 100 percent green electricity. It would have been even nicer if you had also reported how friendly and competently you were looked after by our team at your seat in first class.” [bold parts are highlighted by me, not Thunberg or Deutsche Bahn].

Evidently, many people judged the whole affair as [another] Greta Thunberg PR stunt. But the train company’s representatives now have to appear before a state data protection officer, to answer for the violation of privacy laws, because through their tweet they revealed Greta’s travel information. The hearing will take place, even though Thunberg and her legal team formulated no complaint.

I think this is bs. Where’s the privacy violation when the traveler in question publicly made known details of her trip? All Deutsche Bahn did was to defend its service in front of what they deemed as a dishonest review. They told her in a polite, euphemistic manner, Greta, you’re whining from first class. I have news for her and her fellow climate doom is nigh followers; if you ban fossil fuels [and fossil fuel-powered cars], you’re going to see even higher overcrowding in trains. The transition toward the carbon neutral economy in a decade time [as they want] will create inconveniences [if we can call human casualties in the bottom section of the population as an “inconvenience”] of a far greater order of magnitude, which they cannot or don’t want to comprehend. But at least Greta and her privileged ilk will get to be in first class when they complain about it – and state authorities will question you if you point out their hypocrisy.

This is essentially the same issue as the persecution of Julian Assange and others who have published “state secrets”.

The privileged classes – which now include Greta Thunberg as well as everyone who works for the US government – claim the right to lie without limit or restraint, while criminalizing anyone who tries to reveal their lies.

Only if you want to pervert the English language like when people allude to male homosexuality as gay. A poser is something trying.

And there, they’re and their, which and witch are mutually interchangeable, and apostrophes are a waste of ink. You and I are a dying breed Alexander. My daughters classmates ask her “why do you talk weird?”, and when I used the word “superfluous” in front of one of the teachers, they stopped me, asked what it meant and how to spell it, and WROTE IT DOWN! A TEACHER for crissake!!
Post-modernism at its finest, and yes, Merriam-Webster, and God forbid, even the Oxford Concise are following the same path.

Oh, shucks….I spoke of our litigious society in my dentist’s office the other day, to explain why they require initialing multiple release forms to do an implant, only to hear “liti-what? What a big word, what’s it mean?” (not from the dentist, he’s sharp…from staff).

Now, if I’d said ‘It’s to do with all that superfluous litigation”, that’d have really knocked ’em for a loop, I guess.

Greta is a great witch, which I find extraordinarily amusing but also confusing. Look, what has come out of it: plenty of puns, jokes and good humour (AE humor). Parody and satire is alive and well on this blog. I love it.

Realistically, no one is taking her seriously, nor should they. I wasn’t even going to respond directly to another Thunberg post, but Alexander’s post struck a chord with me. I teach my daughter that using the language well and being polite and respectful is about respecting yourself, your culture, and your society, its not about one-upmanship, snobbery or even respecting others, its about how it shapes your inner view of yourself and your place in the society you live in. it also shapes the way your teachers, and in the future, your employers will view you. The vocabulary that you… Read more »

“Last week, Greta Thunberg tweeted out a photo of herself, saying she was aboard an overcrowded train and that she was heading home. Sitting on the presumably cold, dirty floor of the train ….”

This little girl is a narcicisst par excellence. Next we will be treated with a picture showing her in a public toilet, hopefully sitting on (presumably) warm, clean toilet seat ….

This is TIME’s choice for “Person of the Year”. What else could be expected from the tasteless USA?

Yes, I agree. Obomber was their male choice for “Person of the Year”, and Greta Thunberg is their female choice (although some people say that Obomber is not really male, but a transvestite – who knows …)

And Greta Thunberg looks so weird that one might suppose she has Down Syndrome?

I think it’s fairly well established that Greta is autistic. A documentary about her climb to fame is being released where she was conveniently filmed long before it happened. This child was set up and is being used by the most sinister of forces to spearhead their agenda (which has nothing to do with protecting the environment. It is all about marketing highly lucrative (for the banksters) and spurious offset instruments, which will convince the public something is being done when they pay more for air tickets etc, while the world’s wildlife continues to be destroyed by these same Wall… Read more »

Next thing you know, she’ll be coming out with declarations that all those chemical weapons Assad is deploying willy nilly are destroying the environment and the ozone layer and taking photo ops with White Helmets while pulling leaking cans marked ‘REAL SARIN HERE’ out of potholes with bare hands and feet, all the while trying hard not to trip over dead goats.

And here next tweet.
Our train from Basel was taken out of traffic. So we sat on the floor on 2 different trains. After Göttingen I got a seat. This is no problem of course and I never said it was. Overcrowded trains is a great sign because it means the demand for train travel is high!

Why did she not travel in the coal wagon? Coal wagons are a great sign because it means that Europeans can heat their ovens with coal in winter, while missing out on cheap Russian gas.

Very sick that this young woman is being slandered for her message and health problems. Always old white men who are down on her. Why not just listen to her message, which is shared by at least 80% of scientist and the vast majority of young people? She is right, but all the old fogeys can do is slander her style, and Asperger’s Syndrome. Surprisingly some from the left, who should know better, can’t help criticise her. Again, mostly old white men. Their envy is palpable. If she is right Forget her campaigning styles and join in. But don’t put… Read more »

Greta’s camp isn’t the holder of absolute truth, mate. In fact, their solution are highly political and the nature of the problem is highly politicized as well. As for the kid’s health issues, I don’t see people here joking about that. But don’t think individuals with disabilities or syndromes can’t be glory/fame chasers, that they aren’t in it for the money. Greta has almost 4 million followers on twitter. You know how much money she can make just by selling advertising alone? Greta’s style of campaigning on climate change MATTERS, precisely because how one delivers the message can persuade or… Read more »

Why don’t you manifest the same concern to her handlers, especially her parents? What they’ve put her through is child abuse. They stole her childhood so they could turn her into an activist and serve an oligarchic agenda. “UN’s woke climate change plan is an insult to science” from a climate change believer.

I would suggest that Colin go to WikiLeaks and read the leaked University of East Anglia emails in their entirety like I have, but I suspect reading is not his strong suite. While I am filling out Colin’s reading list (fat chance, reading books would take too much time away from his IMPORTANT work of spamming website forums) he can also read former climate activist, Elaine Dewar’s book, “Cloak of Green”.
Of course, theres always a fly in the ointment. What will his friends say if he starts thinking empirically?

My state went from 95% covered with hardwood forests to under 15%….a loss of 17,000,000 acres of deciduous forest in one mid-west state. Like removing the entire Tongass National forest (same size). Think of the tons and tons of carbon sequestering trees that are gone, but you never hear these environmental activists taking on Monsanto and their CHEMICAL FARMING row crop industry.
