(SouthFront) – Security forces have killed three terrorists in the village of Gubden in Russia’s Republic of Dagestan, the National Anti-Terrorist Committee (NAC) said on December 17.

The terrorists had barricaded themselves inside a building and were resisting arrest with fire arms. One of them was identified as Aligadzhi Khamutaev that was wanted for the murder of eight people and attacks on police.

Security forces discovered firearms, grenades and ammunition at the site. No casualties among civilians or security personnel were reported.

Khamutaev had been participating in terrorist attacks in the republic under command of Rustam Asildarov. Asildarov was a leader of so-called Wilayat Kavkaz, a local branch of ISIS. He was eliminated as a resulf of the special operation on December 3, 2016.

Now, Wilayat Kavkaz de-facto does not exist.

In a separate development, 5 militants who pledged allegiance to ISIS have been killed in Russia’s Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the NAC said on December 18. The militants were killed in a gunfight with security forces. Security forces recovered automatic rifles, ammunition and improvised explosive devices from the scene.

ISIS cells have increased their activity ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations in Russia. The Federal Security Service and the National Guard track this activity and eliminate the terrorists.

It is important to note that terrorists are not arrested or captured even such a possibility exists. They are eliminated.
