On Tuesday, 20-year-old Daria Kasatkina defeated Zheng Saisai with 6-2 6-4 amazing victory progressing to the second round.
And this is despite the fact that Kasatkina entered Wimbledon without any match practice. Daria skipped the whole of the lead-up grass court tournaments to Wimbledon to fully rehabilitate and recover from the ankle injury at the Internazionali BNL D’Italia. Then she withdrew from both the Aegon Classic and the Aegon International.
Daria Kasatkina and Zheng Saisai have faced off twice before. Both of their previous meetings were in 2016 when the Russian triumphed both times without losing a set in either of the matches.
At the Volvo Car Open, Kasatkina only lost three games as she strolled to the victory within under an hour.
Their most recent battle came at the quadrennial Summer Olympics games, where Kasatkina once again triumphed.
Way to go Russian tennis girls! Keep rocking!!!
