Reporters Without Borders thinks ISIS in Africa and al-Qaeda in Syria are less dangerous to free speech than Putin and Xi

The integrity of Reporters Without Borders has been called into question by the editor-in-chief of RT Margarita Simonyan.

The statements, views and opinions expressed in this column are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of this site. This site does not give financial, investment or medical advice.

A row has erupted between the French based group Reporters Without Borders (Reporters Sans Frontières–RSF) and RT’s editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan.

The incident began when RSF referred to individuals at RT as “enemies of journalism”. Simonyan fired back saying that the group should ‘self-dissolve’.

READ MORE: RT Chief slams Reporters Without Borders–says organisation should “self-dissolve”

Now, Simonyan has fired back with an open letter to RSF, demanding a clarification of their insulting position.

The letter is reproduced in its entireity below.

One look at both the financiers of as well as the targets of RSF, paints a picture of a group with a clear ideological bent that is miles away from their supposed ethos of promoting free speech and honest journalism.

In 2016, in particular, RSF dropped a list of individuals and entities from their list of free speech offenders in spite the fact that such groups and individuals are still very much a danger to free speech.

Here are some of the most staggering examples of groups and individuals dropped from RSF’s ‘predators against free speech’ list in 2016

–Boko Haram (an ISIS affiliate in Nigeria)

–Illegal Baloch terrorist groups operating in Pakistan

–The Israel Defence Force

–Italian mafia

–Al-Nusra Front (the primary al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria)

–The Muslim Brotherhood (a radical group whose members commit numerous terrorist atrocities against Egyptian Christians)

–Anti-government militias in Philippines including radical Salafists and Maoists

By contrast, those still on the RSF list of free speech violators include

–Vladimir Putin (the President of Russia)

–Xi Jinping (the President of China)

–Bashar al-Assad (the President of Syria)

–Nguyen Phu Trong (Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam)

–Nicolas Maduro (President of Venezuela)

–Houthi Rebels (a poorly armed and poorly funded Shi’a resistance group fighting Saudi Arabia in Yemen).

In summary, the Presidents of Russia and China are, according to RSF, bigger enemies of free speech than al-Qaeda in Syria and ISIS in Nigeria.

If that wasn’t enough to make one ‘question more’ about the ideological bent of RSF, one of the groups primary financiers is none other than George Soros.

So much for the integrity and independence of RSF.

Who set up Sans Frontieres? Who is the PR Media Management Company behind White Helmets aka IS IS/Al Qaeda or whatever they are called today? Mathew Rycroft – UK Envoy in the UN, who once upon a time was Tony Blair’s Private Secretary during the time when Blair was lying to Parliament with regards the Iraq War. Who gave Blair and Rycroft a lending hand? Was it not Bell Pottinger? The guy in the picture is James Le Mesurier, a British ex-mercenary, who founded the White Helmets
in 2013. The group has been lauded for its “humanitarian” efforts in
Syria, but they have actually functioned more as a logistics and
propaganda arm of Syria’s al-Qaeda branch, complete with training from
Le Mesurier. This Sandhurst graduate was very active in Yugoslavia against Serbs in Bosnia and Kosovo.

Thanks for recognising him. The UK version of Erik Prince. Also, look who funds The White Helmets, no doubt you already know. What I find interesting is the Jo Cox Memorial Fund donating over £2 million. That was the MP, whose husband was on the Thames, cheering on Team Brexit, with his two young children, when Geldof was ranting at Nigel Farage. The day the UK fishermen were protesting against EU quotas on the Thames. The following day Jo Cox was allegedly taken out. Massive publicity and fund raising for the two young boys, that she left behind. So why… Read more »

Very interesting observation. I have noticed British intelligence frequently uses humanitarian sentiment and donations to fund nefarious activities , specifically Care Canada and Care Australia financed mercenary and intelligence gathering operations in “the former Yugoslavia.” They often use vile propaganda to promote donations.

You’ve mentioned Bob Geldof, what’s interesting was the campaign “We are the world” to help Ethiopia during the famine – there are claims that little money was ever delivered for the stated purpose.

what do you expect, Geldoff is from the chosen people tribe, didn’t he also urged the Arabs and all 3rd world people to not have so many kids?

Had no idea, I thought Geldof was Scottish. I saw the other day a new batch of peace corps volunteers/humanitarians coming to Kiev – pretty old looking “peace corps” volunteers – calling them spies would better describe them.

No, he’s not. He is from a Christian family in Dublin, who are of Belgian origin. Listen to his accent: he has a south Dublin accent, the so called Blackrock College accent, where he attended.

So true and if you look further you no bout will see the same old crowd involved with them all and with links back to Yugoslavia. Clinton and Blair, weren’t they behind what happened in Yugoslavia and then Blair and Bush moved the teams to Iraq etc, etc, etc.

Clinton was old man Bush’s project, and since the fall of the Berlin wall they’ve be working diligently to take down all states that weren’t completely under their control, with similar games as well. The roles of US ambassadors April Glaspie in Iraq and Warren Zimmermann in Yugoslavia were similar in making sure war would break out. It’s a disgusting bunch.

I read a story by Mick White he did about the assassination of John Lennon and how the guy who killed Lennon worked for a CIA funded refugee center in South East Asia. SO this has been going on for decades.

Do we remember the times Mr. John Lennon was in the USA with his Yoko Ono?. Man, had he a lot of troubles with all these “friendly establishment gentlemen” who got worried about their income from the Bonds in war and the Shares in MIC.
Mr. Lennon was preacing PEACE and NO WAR. That was no good in USA at that time. CIA it is said, allegedly finished it.

Reporters without Brains. Orwell predicted the future of the Worst (west) perfectly. A future with a boot endless on one’s face. Faceboot. Surely one gets your brains damaged with a boot endlessly on your face. So Reporters without Brains would be the best title for them.

That is really absurd. While certainly not everything is perfect in Venezuela and Russia, both are countries where there are relatively strong opposition media. In Venezuela, some of the biggest newspapers are on the side of the opposition. In contrast, many of the enemies of a free press the organization does not mention any more do not tolerate any dissent.
