Red Pill Man of the Week

Luis Suarez

SOCCER England
He buried England in the World Cup group stage with a ringer of a goal and then, after the victory, announced he was leaving Liverpool to explore heavy interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid. In one day Luis Suarez knocked England out of the tournament and then announced his departure from the English side…ouch!

He is going to make serious bank in Spain next season, but right now Suarez continues to captivate World Cup fans in Brazil with great play and an interesting history of biting opposing players that makes Luis confident, talented and bizarre all at the same time.

Here he is taking a bite out of Italy…

This week the world’s biggest e-commerce company entered the smartphone arms race. CEO Jeff Bezos showed off the new Fire phone which Amazon treats less as a communication device and more of a shopping platform and product recommendation engine.

Bezos continues to push Amazon into new, ambitious directions. Now he is squarely going up against Apple and Google Android, in what will be the biggest battle in mobile for years to come, as this Bezos autographed iPhone shows…Apple look out!

Greg Duffy

What started with Greg Duffy’s dad trying to find out which of the neighborhood dogs was leaving droppings in his yard, turned into a $550 cash windfall.

This week Google’s Nest announced that it was buying web camera startup Dropcam for $555 million in cash. Dropcam is a five-year-old San Francisco company, founded by Greg Duffy and Amir Virani.

Dropcam is a simple internet camera that can be set up to watch your home or place of business. Users can pay for cloud storage for the videos as well. After engineering the solution to his fahter’s dog dodo problem, Duffy and his friend Virani thought they’d stumbled on the next big idea, a home surveillance camera that turned on when it detected motion and would store the videos in the cloud.

George Will

Fuck yeah George Will! You are a voice of reason in a feminist fear mongering, sexual assault campaign that is sweeping America. Best of all, you are holding frame and not backing down from your position…double kudos from all us men.

Some background…George Will’s Washington Post column on sexual assault stirred up a great deal of controversy. In his column and in a Friday interview, Will argued that progressives on college campuses are eroding centuries of legal precedent while feeding into misplaced fears about a “supposed campus epidemic of rape.”

Will criticized rape and sexual assault statistics put out by the Obama administration and blamed progressivism for potentially ruining the lives of young men who, rather than being clearly-defined rapists, are swimming in the “sea of hormones and alcohol that gets [them] into so much trouble on campuses.”

If liberals truly take rape and sexual assault to be serious crimes, Will argued, they should not seek to blur distinctions between different kinds of assault, nor should they call, as the the Education Department has, for using the “preponderance of the evidence” standard in sexual assault cases.

Even as feminists and their beta male, white knight army of critics are “calling for [his] head,” Will refuses to submit, arguing with logic and fact.

“Today, for some reason…indignation is the default position of certain people in civic discourse,” Will said. “They go from a standing start to fury in about 30 seconds.”

Will later argued that the internet has “erased the barriers of entry to public discourse,” which is good because more people can be involved in conversations, but it’s bad because a lot of those people aren’t that bright. “Among the barriers of entry that have been reduced, is you don’t have to be able to read, write, or think,” he said. “You can just come in and shout and call names and carry on.”

Jurgen Klinsmann

jurgen-klinsmann
Klinsmann is steering the U.S.A. ever closer to the final 16 in Brazil. He fought a tough match agains Portugal to position the American side with an excellent chance of leaving the group of death with enough points to advance.

In his way, his countrymen from Germany. The final match between the two top teams in the group is made all the more interesting given the fact that when the U.S. plays Germany on Thursday both teams will need just a tie in order to advance.

This has led to speculation that Klinsmann might collude with his home country to fix the result of the match ahead of time. In response to the accusation, Klinsmann remained calm, and fired off this quote, via Kurtis Larson of the Toronto Sun…

The quote refers to the end to the World Cup qualifying stage, when Mexico was losing to Costa Rica and needed the United States to beat Panama to keep the Mexican side alive for a Brazil spot.

The U.S. had already qualified for the World Cup and was trailing Panama when they scored two goals in stoppage time. The match was totally meaningless to Klinsmann’s side, but Mexico would have never made it to Brazil if not for those two goals.

Blue Pill Man of the Week

Dick Cheney

Dick Cheney
Yes Dick Cheney, you are directly responsible for the Iraq mess. I am not saying you are the only one to blame, but your dirty hands are all over this latest and greatest blotch in U.S. foreign policy.

Granted, Cheney may be categorized as a red pill man in a Machiavellian, sociopath way, but this week you looked like a blue pill bitch in the interview with Fox New’s Megyn Kelly.

Some context…Megyn Kelly mercilessly confronted former VP Cheney on her show about his track record in Iraq. After quoting Cheney’s recent op-ed on the war, in which he said of President Obama, “Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many,” Kelly crushed Cheney with this question:

“Time and time again, history has proven that you got it wrong as well in Iraq, sir. You said there was no doubt Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. You said we would be greeted as liberators. You said the insurgency was in its last throes back in 2005, and you said that after our intervention, extremists would have to ‘rethink their strategy of jihad.’ Now, with almost a trillion dollars spent there, with almost 4,500 American lives lost there, what do you say to those who say you were so wrong about so much at the expense of so many?”

Cheney was left stung and stunned. His response to Kelly was flustered and clumsy…

“No, I just fundamentally disagree, Reagan — I mean, Megyn,” Cheney replied.

Cheney looked guilty as hell, and got called out by Fox News (of all channels) for his reckless and opportunistic turn as U.S. Vice President.

The video below shows Dick Cheney getting schooled by Megyn Kelly…it’s worth every minute.
