(Syria Scope) – A painting of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has been put in art gallery of the Russian State Douma.
The State Douma serves as the lower house of the Federal Assembly of Russia.
The painting shows the president in a military uniform with the backdrop being the famous Roman city of Palmyra in Syria’s Homs province.
Syria and Russia since the Soviet era have always had strong relations, with Russia hosting its sole Mediterranean installment in Syria’s Tartous.
Russia also intervened in September 2015 to help Syria in its fight against Western-backed terrorist organisations.
