Peter is correct in his radical pessimism as regards this present world order. However as a Christian he believes in an eschatology which apparently denies the coming Kingdom of God, which is righteousness joy and peace in the Holy Spirit. Jesus asked, “when the Son of Man comes will He find faith in the world?” That event is the hope we have as Christians. Not Heaven but Heaven on Earth.
