Nigel Farage, the leader of the new Brexit Party, says his anti-EU group will mirror UKIP on policies, but when it comes to personnel there will be a “vast difference,” with no far-right faction.
The former UKIP leader launches his new party in Coventry on Friday in preparation for fighting European elections that the UK may be forced to participate in on May 23, if a Brexit deal cannot be passed by British lawmakers.
Speaking on BBC 4’s Today program, Farage, who quit UKIP in December due to what he saw as leader, Gerard Batten’s “obsession” with former head of the EDL, Tommy Robinson, claims his Brexit Party will not have such far-right individuals.
UKIP did struggle to get enough good people into it but unfortunately what it’s chosen to do is allow the far right to join it and effectively take it over and I’m afraid the brand is now tarnished.

Farage is hoping to attract support from disgruntled pro-Brexit Tories, unhappy with Prime Minister Theresa May delaying the UK’s exit from the European Union.
The hardline Brexiteer also revealed that his party would not be taking donations from Aaron Banks, the millionaire who helped to bankroll UKIP, suggesting the businessman wants to stay out of the spotlight when it comes to political donations.
We haven’t asked Aaron Banks for any money; he’s not going to give any money. He’s been very badly burned by what happened since the referendum.
The UK Parliament is currently in recess until April 23, giving Farage’s Brexit Party the opportunity to grab the media and public’s attention, and take advantage of the fact that the issue of Brexit is dominating political discourse in Britain.

Sadly, Alexander Mercouris is wrong in his assessment of the Eurosceptic parties. He is far too obsessed with Nigel Farage who is certainly the best communicator in British politics at the present time but who also is not a good party leader and has serious difficulties working with others. The new Brexit “party” is not actually a party in any meaningful sense of the word, it has no members only subscribers, no democratic constitution and no manifesto other than a commitment to brexit. It is a mystery to me that so few people are articulating the real problem with Brexit.
The problem is this. Theresa May promised two contradictory things: one, that we would leave the single market and customs union, and two, that we would have frictionless trade with the EU after leaving. How can you have both? Frictionless trade is what you get from being a member of the single market and customs union.
All the problems arise from this contradiction. Nobody wants to say that Theresa May is insane, at least not in public. But she is.
Insane? Are you insane? A Liar?–yes. A City of London stooge?–of course. A tool of the EU?–obviously. A traitor to the democratic voting process and to the majority of citizens that declared that they wanted to leave the EU?–of course. Her entire plan since the vote was to find ways to prevent Brexit. She’s done very well.
No, she had no plan for preventing Brexit. She has never had any plan at all beyond frustrating other people’s plans.
She was never a committed Remainer, and she kept very quiet during the referendum campaign. If Remain had won, David Cameron would still be PM. She has wanted to be PM all her life.
I do not know who is pulling her strings, but I don’t think they are very nice people.
Her virulent Russophobia suggests she fancies herself as a war leader. This is not war against an enemy, it’s war against all of us.
