Iron Mike Tyson is unlikely to make a comeback in the world of professional boxing

As much as we would love to see Iron Mike fight again, it looks like he is staying out of the ring…leaving us to remember his fierce power through youtube video highlights.

Tyson was an amazing combination of power, speed, defence, and deadly combinations.

Boxing promoters Vladimir Khryunov and Don King commented earlier to press that ‘Iron Mike’ would possible make a comeback to square off with reigning WBC Heavyweight World Champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1, 21 KOs) if the latter retains the belt in his title defending bout against Deontay Wilder on January 17 in Las Vegas.

In an interview with TASS, Sulaiman said he spoke with Tyson on many occasions and the legendary US boxer never mentioned any plans about his comeback, therefore statements about his return could be a joke or a publicity stunt.

The 48-year-old US fighter, who wrapped up his professional career in 2005, holds the record of being the youngest boxer to win WBC, WBA and IBF belts when he was at the age of 20. He won his first 19 professional career bouts with a knockout.

Tyson, induced in the International Boxing Hall of Fame and the World Boxing Hall of Fame, was the first ever heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold the WBC, WBA and IBF champion’s belts and the only fighter to successfully unify them.

He was convicted of raping Desiree Washington in 1992 and sentenced to six years in prison, but was released three years later. In his 1996 comeback he again won with knockouts WBC and WBA belts.

In 1996 he lost his WBA belt to another former US undisputed heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield (44-10, 29 KOs, 2 Draws) and then failed to regain it in their 1997 rematch.

Both clashes are remembered as being among the most famous matches of all time, and the last encounter is particularly known after Tyson bit off a chunk of Holyfield’s ear.
