Commander of Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Amir Ali Hajizadeh, said he “wished he was dead” upon learning of the Ukrainian jet downing and accepted full responsibility for the incident.
“After hearing about the crash of the Ukrainian plane, I wished to die”, Hajizadeh said during a press conference on Saturday.
I wish I had died and not witnessed such an accident
The commander explained that the incident had occurred as the country was bracing for potential US strikes and that the “likelihood of conflict” between the two nations has been “unprecedented” since the Islamic Revolution of 1979.
According to an early assessment, the Ukrainian plane was erroneously identified as an incoming cruise missile, which resulted in the tragedy.
Hajizadeh stated that the IRGC notified the authorities that it had likely hit the plane back right after the incident, yet this information was not disclosed to the public while the crash site was being investigated. Neither IRGC nor the country’s military sought to hide the incident, the due procedure was to be followed, he explained.

First thought was, Is there a chance Zelensky apologizes for his country shooting down the airliner in 2014?
He’d had to start with Parubiy’s tonton macoute snipers shooting down the heavenly hundred first.
Maybe he could get Parubiy to announce it the next time Congress or Canada’s Parliament invites him for congratulations on Ukraine’s wonderful progress.
Yes, we know they did it. Don’t expect it to be hidden forever, no matter how hard they try.
He should start with all those NAZI-Terrorist Battalions for murdering + terrorising civilians in eastern Ukraine.
Oh, but I thought “Russia did that”. Haha.
This all reminds me of the butterfly effect – the US whacks Soleimani and a bunch of innocent Canadians die a violent death. As I recall, while the US would not apologize for shooting down the Iranian airline Flight 665, they did pay reparations. When Canada broke off diplomatic relations with Iran, they confiscated ~ 28 million worth of Iran’s assets so I doubt Iran will be amenable to paying out anything to the Canadian crash victims.
The US did not pay compensations for Flight 665 for about 10 years. Also, they argued non-culpability. The US has never apologized for killing 290 people on that flight. The story of the legal process resulting from the US shooting down of 655: Yale Journal of International Law, “Iran Air Flight 655 and Beyond: Free Passage, Mistaken Self-Defense, and State Responsibility”. https://digitalcommons.law.yale.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1577&context=yjil “Viewing the events of July 3, 1988 through the eyes of the Vincennes’ commander, his ship was caught up in a surface engagement with Iranian Revolutionary Guard speedboats. His mistake was in extending the engagement to an aerial… Read more »
I’m not surprised, and expected nothing than this kind of vile cowardly subhuman lowlife horseshit.
The USS Vincent shot the Iranian plane down deliberately – murdered 290 souls – to provoke Iran to attack the US-Navy vessel, but they didn’t take the bait and avoided the trap, the reason was simply their proxy war against Iran carried out by their man Saddam just failed big time. The commander of the Vincent was awarded for the massmurder, and the US didn’t has something like honor decency spine or balls to settle it like human beeings just as cowards like they always do.
“USS Vincennes”…..NOT Vincent !!!
Trump tweet:
“To the brave, long-suffering people of Iran: I’ve stood with you since the beginning of my Presidency, and my Administration will continue to stand with you. We are following your protests closely, and are inspired by your courage.”
Puke
What!?!? How was killing a top Iranian general “standing by Iran”? Trump has done nothing but provoke Iran, and his sanctions have caused all kinds of hardships and resulted in many deaths by depriving Iranians of medications.
Some news media in Canada are reporting that since Canada broke off diplomatic relations with Iran in 2012 (no doubt in obedience to US dictates) there are no direct flights between Canada and Iran, which means that Canadians have to use connecting flights such as the longer route through Kyiv. The Iranian Canadian community have long requested the Canadian government to establish a direct flight between Canada and Iran. Dreaming in might-have-been-land (which I know is silly), I wonder how many of the passengers on the flight would still be alive were it not for US aggression and its puppets’… Read more »
Tragic accidents like this one can happen anywhere. But it seems to me that this is being turned in a political “football”.
