In the US, supporting traditional marriage is now EXTREME

In the crazy, topsy-turvy political world of America, insanity holds the upper hand, at least with the Democrat Party. Two lawmakers, Democrat Kamala Harris and Mazie Hirono, both US Senators, are now on record for calling the support of traditional marriage (one man marrying one woman) “extreme.”

However, what is worse still is that the person attacked for holding this view, Brian Buescher, a President Trump-nominated candidate for federal judge, tried to softpedal these rabid liberals and to hide behind American “legal precedents” regarding such matters. Fox News reported:

In a series of questions sent to Buescher, Hirono asked whether his membership in the Knights of Columbus would prevent him from hearing cases “fairly and impartially” and, if confirmed, whether he would end his membership in the Roman Catholic charitable organization.

“The Knights of Columbus has taken a number of extreme positions,” Hirono said in the questionnaire. “For example, it was reportedly one of the top contributors to California’s Proposition 8 campaign to ban same-sex marriage.”

In his response, Buescher argued that the Knights of Columbus’ official positions on issues do not represent every one of the group’s members and said he would recuse himself from hearing cases where he saw a conflict of interest.

“The Knights of Columbus does not have the authority to take personal political positions on behalf of all of its approximately two million members,” Buescher wrote. “If confirmed, I will apply all provisions of the Code of Conduct for United States Judges regarding recusal and disqualification.”

Harris, in her questions to the nominee, called the Knights of Columbus “an all-male society” and asked the Nebraska lawyer if he was aware that the group was anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage when he joined. The California senator also referenced Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson’s statement that abortion amounted to “the killing of the innocent on a massive scale” and asked Buescher if he agreed with the statement.

Buescher responded that his involvement in the group consisted mostly of charitable work and community events at his local Catholic parish. He indicated he would abide by judicial precedent regarding abortion.

This was probably a poor choice for nomination on President Trump’s part. Judge Buescher is following the old Republican / conservative playbook of trying to avoid conflict with liberal wackos by denying who he is. This is absurd, and it is actually dishonest. To deny one’s faith as a basis of ethics is the corner American secular liberals have backed religious people into.

The liberal senators controlled the narrative so well that they were able to advance their agenda still farther, by pigeonholing Judge Buescher into being an “extremist” because the point of view of the Knights of Columbus was that same sex marriage should be banned.

For some six thousand years this point of view has been standard. Now, for some reason traditional marriage (between one man and one woman) is extreme. How did this happen?

Very simple. National rejection of a Power greater than any of us. In the US, the top authority in one’s life has become that person himself or herself. There is no way to create a basis for social ethics with such a framework.

To attempt to do so defies all logic for one simple reason: All ethical values spring from religious values. Morality does not exist apart from a relationship with God, however we do or do not understand Him. But the liberals have played the game against Christian believers most notably, due to the fact that Christianity in the United States is fragmented and that there are indeed many groups of professed Christians who do not in fact follow the faith as it was originally taught. That is a big problem in itself, but American individualism makes it worse because to declare that someone’s religiously held views is wrong is often a selective and subjective evaluation with no further backing than a very limited set of opinions.

“Divide and conquer” was used against Christendom in the United States to a level of near perfection, and now the standard level of ethical commonality is based not in religion, but in the ever-changing tides of mob mentality under secular humanism.

It is into this mess that the good judge has fallen, and it is the kind of mess that creates more damage along the way.

Judge Brett Kavanaugh stood by his faith in a much stronger fashion when he was lambasted by the fiercest liberal attack seen in modern history against a judicial nominee to the Supreme Court. He won because he did not back down or equivocate on his faith in any way. His stand was a rallying cry for conservatives. More such people are needed to fulfill the President’s agenda of creating courts that are impartial and loyal to the Constitution of the United States, because that Constitution was framed around loyalty and gratitude to the Creator and Author of liberty.

Anything less, or different, simply cannot work.
