“It’s a clear warning to companies aiding and abetting Russia’s malign-influence projects it will not be tolerated.”

While it’s the Trump administration’s new punitive measures targeting China which have been driving headlines, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also signaled new measures related to the controversial Russia-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

“Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said a sanctions exemption will be removed for a Russian natural-gas pipeline to Germany, paving the way for new penalties to be imposed on the contentious project,” The Wall Street Journal described of his comments.

“Mr. Pompeo said Wednesday that the State Department will lift a proviso that spared the pipeline, known as Nord Stream 2, from a 2017 sanctions measure,” the report added.

Already the major companies laying the massive NS2 pipeline and their executives have been threatened with sanction as of last year, which temporarily halted construction. From there Russia vowed to outfit pipe-laying ships and fill in the gap via its energy giant Gazprom.

The newly announced measures will allow a wider range of punishment options against companies working on the pipeline as it nears completion, which Washington has long been trying to thwart.

“Our expectation is that those who participate in the continued project will be subject to review for potential consequences,” Pompeo announced.

“It’s a clear warning to companies aiding and abetting Russia’s malign-influence projects it will not be tolerated,” Pompeo said.

Germany and Russia will finish this gas pipeline by the end of 2020 or beginning of 2021. Pompous ass Pompeo should worry more about his exploding waistline than about Nord Stream 2. He is “morbidly obese”, to quote Madame Pelosi.

You held my attention until you quoted ‘Madame Pelosi’.

LOL. I am glad I held your attention until the very last word (Pelosi). Thank you.

Only if we organize and hit the streets, only that will save us from capitalism gone bonkers. For the 50% working-poor refuse to vote, causing the 25% most wealth to win all elections, to create socialism for the rich — and non-violent disobedience is our only salvation.

Refusing to vote isn’t the answer. Breaking the party system is. If huge numbers vote for local independsnts, not only does it give them actual accountable representation in government, it strips the major parties of their power.

Can’t wait until they impose sanctions on all countries buying gas from these pipelines.

Pompeo will send out Mr. Molecule agents with little freedom gas detectors trying to separate which gas came from where. LOL

Being a bipartisan affair, Biden has promised that he’ll do Trump one better and deputize major BLM leaders to descend on Europe’s homes to spot check their stoves with ‘slavery gas’ detectors. 🙂

Upon reading Biden’s claims, Pompeo got all hot under the collar and declared that he’s preparing another law suit along Chinese lines, this time against Russia for allowing all the permafrost to melt and inundating the Earth with methane gas. “Another Kremlin plot in the works”, said he.

He was about to include forced climate change in the suit but caught himself. “Can’t acknowledge that stuff” he said. “Might come back to bite us.”

Be funny if Pompeo has been secretly been buying Gazprom stock. Seems to me all he’s done is create more profits for them once the pipeline is complete. All the other companies get bumpkins

Pompino is insisting that the European partners back out and demand repayment of their investment from Russia. Russia and the EU got together and found a loophole…..they’ll insist ‘no can do’ based on the Force Majeure clause that was cleverly drafted to include ‘unexpected intervention by idiots and beyond our control’. 😉

Someone said the following ” Americans are like drunkards when it comes to reasoning with them.” This is my response : I would not insult a drunkard when it comes to making a comparison with America . We are dealing with sheer lunatic’s who have also victimized the American people since 1963 . This is a mere pipeline bringing heat to Europe from a short distance it is cheap and the customer’s base was already established long before construction began. Common sense trading. Instead of those Lunatic’s in Washington concentrating on selling Gas to Canada and South America . No,… Read more »
