Brussels [Belgium], June 24 (ANI): The European Union (EU) on Wednesday reacted sharply to a new law in Hungary, which critics say targets gays, lesbians and transgender people. The European bloc has threatened to sue Budapest over violations of fundamental human rights if it does not back down immediately.

In my opinion, children should be taught to treat everyone well & as equals – not to discriminate against anyone on account of their religion, culture, sexual orientation or political views…….and that’s it. Mathematics, science & other academic subjects are what children should be studying. The gender issues and such can wait until they are older, when they may or may not take an interest in them, and form their own opinions.

Even the idea of a trading bloc minus the euro is a non-starter. I was tried in Latin America with Mercosur with very limited success. The development of Mercosur was arguably weakened by the collapse of the Argentine economy in 2001. Which raises the question of who was going to bail-out Argentine? and it has still seen internal conflicts over trade policy, between Brazil and Argentina, Argentina and Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil, etc. In addition, many obstacles must be addressed before the development of a common currency in Mercosur. A trading bloc with a common currency without political unity and an integrated economy is an outright unstable disaster. EU now pretends to be supranational and democratic but still is intergovermental and lacks anything like a constitution which got rejected in 2005 by both France and the Netherlands. The Euro has resulted in a structural imbalance of trade resulting in ever increasing deficits anddebt in the south to the advantage of Germany. That was an intentional power grab. Rutte’s party won just 34 out of 150 parliamentary seats in the March 21 Netherlands Election. It is nearly July and he has not been able to agree on a ruling coalition of parties. Which government is already on it’s knees?
