According to an article published in China’s state newspaper Global Times, China is preparing to start a ‘limited war’ in order to drive the Indian soldiers out of the troubled Doklam region.
There has been a strain in relationship between China and India since June when the Indian soldiers entered Doklam area which is situated in the middle of Bhutan and China. The Indian soldiers stopped the Chinese soldiers from building a road in that region.
Both the Chinese and the Bhutanese lay claim to the area. The Indian army entered the area upon request of Bhutan and as a result, a standoff ensued between the two armies since then.
A researcher by the name Hu Xi Yong from Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, said that the tension between both the Chinese and Indian forces won’t last long as China’s limited military action could start within one week.
According to Yong, the Chinese government would notify the Indian foreign ministry before taking any military action.
This editorial is issued at a time when India’s External Affairs Minister Shushma Suwraj used unpleasant words to describe the conflict in her cabinet meetings.
Global Times claims India has thrown down the gauntlet against a country much more powerful than her. “Perhaps India is blinded by her regional hegemony as well as comments of the Western media, and are believing they can match a country like China in the way they (India) is dealing with other countries in South Asia.”
The article also said the People’s Liberation Army had made several moves over the past month and hope that the Chinese army has done its groundwork for a military clash.
Global Times also said that the Modi government was violating international laws and putting India’s national honour and peaceful continuation of progress in danger.
Quoting from the Global Times, “He [Modi] should be aware of the military capabilities of the Chinese army compared to the Indian army which has little.”

No-one is going to start something they can’t finish. Do China and India really want to become slaves of the West again? A China-India war of any scale will have the champagne corks flying in London and Washington. China and India will have shown the world that they cannot solve their problems in a civilized manner and so will require the help of the US/EU/NATO gang, who claim to be the fount of all human civilization.
Russia must mediate URGENTLY, before the games of the US/EU/NATO gang come to poisonous fruition.
If you think a conflict between China and India would be met with glee by anyone in the United States, you are smoking something funky. India is a political and military ally of the U.S., and China is our biggest or 2nd biggest trading partner. A major conflict would eventually result in the U.S. picking sides, or at the very least, result in major instability in global economics, which the U.S. wants to maintain.
I don’t think anybody wants to deal with a major conflict. But a limited clash could actually be in the interest of the US, because it has the potential to sour Indian-Chinese relationships for years, thus creating a lot of problems for the southern branch of the terrestrial Belt Road Initiative project, that the US hope to see delayed, if not derailed. India is tempted to join the project, but is concerned that it would favor the Chinese not just economically, but also strategically. You do make many valid points, Leonardo. However, it is striking that China (1949) and India (1947) have failed to resolve their little disputes in the 70 years. This is very revealing. As nations they seem to be psychologically incapable of resolution and yet, military and technologically, they have the means to destroy each other. So, logically, there are just two choices: 1. The drums of war are beating all over the world. The pattern seems to be set. Are there any true leaders, with some brave allies, who can avoid the extinction of mankind? I fear we are about to make the fatal mistake somewhere in Ukraine, Syria, Iran, Venezuela, Estonia, Korea, South China Sea, that will leave our wounded planet fit for just the ants and cockroaches.

Europe has been torn apart by internal competition for power for centuries. And even today the egotism of each country threatens to dissolve it and makes it weaker than it could be. And yet, European countries have been dominating (and exploiting) large parts of the world for a few centuries after the 1500. I don’t really see India and China as immature. Incapable? Even less so. When they lost their empires and after two world wars killing millions, the EU was formed. That is a lesson that other nations have yet to learn. Now the EU seeks renewed domination under the US military umbrella. Sadly, such an EVIL construct will be destroyed. China and India cannot afford to have such wars before they form CHINDIA and regain the leadership they had centuries ago. They BOTH need to get some discipline and authority up there immediately. I thought the rhetoric war between Trump/US and NK was bad enough.
