British lawmaker supports UK bombing Yemen, then turns around and says Russia is guilty of “war crimes”

The British parliament will be holding a three-hour debate on Tuesday about the humanitarian situation in Syria. Expect a lot of Russia bashing, and a lot of “moderate rebel” unicorn sightings.

Senior British lawmaker, Andrew Mitchell is getting a head start on the Russian racism fever that is sweeping the neo-liberal/neocon western world, and helping to move us closer to full scale war.

Mitchell climbed on his parliament soapbox late on Monday (forgetting about the fact that the UK played a leading role in destroying Libya, Syria, and Yemen), to preach about humanitarian efforts in Aleppo.

Humanitarian efforts, in this case, means saving the hides of Al Qaeda and ISIS proxy jihadists stuck in the East of the city.

Mitchell is a part of Prime Minister Theresa May’s ruling Conservatives, and a former Secretary of State for International Development…and a complete and utter hypocrite.

Reuters reports on Mitchell’s warmongering, who at one point does the predictable and pulls out the Nazi card…

“When it comes to incendiary weapons and munitions such as bunker-buster bombs and cluster bombs, the U.N. makes it clear that the systematic use of such indiscriminate weapons in densely populated areas amounts to a war crime.”

“We are witnessing events that match the behavior of the Nazi regime in Guernica in Spain.” he said referring to the destruction of the Spanish town in 1937 by German aircraft from Adolf Hitler’s Luftwaffe. The bombing of the historic city became the subject of a famous painting by artist Pablo Picasso.

Luckily we have professional diplomats on the other side in Moscow….

“Who’s this politician?” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov asked reporters when told about Mitchell’s comment.

“Unfortunately I don’t know him, who is he? I would not comment in any way. To my shame, I don’t know him.”
