Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump hold phone conversation on eve of major summit on Syria

Russian President Vladimir Putin has held a phone conversation with the US President Donald Trump. According to early reports, the pair discussed the events in Syria, Afghanistan and the situation on the Korean peninsula.

The phone call took place on a day that saw Putin hosting the Syrian and Czech Presidents, is indicative of the reality that as an international power, Russia is the undisputed leader of the Syrian peace process with Iran and Turkey close behind.
