Incumbent Prime Minister of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Alexander Zakharchenko is et to win the elections of the DPR’s head of republic, with 81.37% of the vote, according to exit polls results announced by head of the DPR Central Election Commission Roman Lyagin.
Via ITAR TASS News Agency:
“According to exit poll results, his (Zakharchenko’s) rivals, Yuri Sivokonenko and Alexander Kofman, are winning nine and 9.73%, respectively,” Lyagin said.
The movement Donetsk Republic is winning the Sunday elections to the People’s Assembly (legislature) of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), with 65.11% of the vote.
The Free Donbass movement is scoring 34.8% of the vote.
No serious violations of public order or incidents were reported during the Sunday elections of the head of republic and the legislative body of the self-proclaimed DPR, the press service of the DPR interior ministry told TASS.
Voter turnout at the Sunday elections topped 61%, a good ten points stronger than the voter turnout recorded in the junta led Ukraine.
Voter turnout at the Sunday elections of the head of republic and to the People’s Assembly /legislature/ of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) was 61.74%, head of the LPR Central Election Commission Sergei Kozyakov said.
He also said that as many as 3,543 people took part at the polling at a temporary accommodation centre in Russia’s southern city of Rostov-on-Don. The turnout there was 67.6%. A total of 686 people more took part in the voting at a polling station in a temporary accommodation centre in Russia’s Voronezh (turnout of 69.5%), and 2,435 people – in Russia’s Belgorod (turnout of 70.01%).
The post of the head of republic in the Lugansk People’s Republic is contested by the incumbent LPR leader Igor Plotnitsky, head of the Federation of Trade Unions Oleg Akimov, LPR Minister of Health Larisa Airapetyan, and businessman Viktor Penner.
Three public movements – Peace to Lugansk Region, Lugansk Economic Union, and People’s Union – are vying for 50 seats in the LPR People’s Council (legislature).
Real democracy in action. Very reminiscent of certain events that took place around 1776 by a group of “rebel” fighters defending their right to self determination.
