MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Lebanese Defense Minister Yacoub Sarraf is in Moscow on an official visit until August 24 and will meet with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, Milad Nammour, the charge d’affaires of the Lebanese embassy in Russia told Sputnik.

According to Nammour, Sarraf arrived in Moscow on Monday evening.

“The Lebanese defense minister is paying an official visit to Moscow with a delegation comprising high-ranking politicians and servicemen as well as journalists. He will take part in the Army-2017 expo and will meet tomorrow with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu,”

Nammour said.

The diplomat said that the minister was also hoping to meet with the head of the defense committee of the Russian upper house, the Federation Council.

“[The visit] will last until Thursday. I do not know whether the visit will be extended. Maybe there will be something new, they came to Moscow on a private jet, maybe they will leave when they feel like it,”

Nammour added.
