The Russian Navy has launched multiple Kalibr cruise missiles at ISIS positions surrounding Deir-ez Zor city. The strikes originated from the frigate Admiral Essen.
The Russian missile strikes come as the elite Tiger Forces of the Syrian Arab Army captured the strategically important Thardeh Mountain from ISIS after a battle which was resoundingly won by Syrian troops.
Syrian Arab Army (SAA) contingents, including Tiger Forces are rapidly approaching Deir ez-Zor city from both the west and south. Some divisions of the SAA are now less than 2500 meters away from the city. In spite of ISIS transporting some of its most experienced terrorist fighters to Deir ez-Zor from Iraq and other parts of Syria, including the self-proclaimed ISIS capital of Raqqa, their defences are rapidly breaking down in the face of a Syrian onslaught from the land which is being augmented by heavy bombing from the Russian Aerospace Forces who have helped clear Syria’s path to the besieged city.
Speaking during the final day of the BRICS summit in Xiamen, China, Russian President Vladimir Putin described the advances of Syrian forces with Russian air and missile support in the following way,
“The situation (in Syria) is changing dramatically, and that is an obvious fact. I hope that our partners will follow through with their effort in Raqqa. And Deir ez-Zor is a strategic military stronghold for the entire radical opposition – radical in the worst sense of the word, the ISIS-affiliated opposition”.
In respect of Raqqa, the Russian President is referring to US forces and their Kurdish led SDF proxies who are currently moving at a much slower pace vis-a-vis Syrian forces in Deir-ez-Zor.
Putin continued,
“As soon as the operation in Deir ez-Zor is finished, the terrorists will suffer a very serious defeat and the government forces will get an obvious advantage. Then the next step would be to foster the ceasefire and the de-escalation zones and to fully establish the political process”.
Syria is rapidly approaching a total battlefield victory against remaining terrorists in the country. Having vanquished most patches of al-Qaeda and the FSA in the country, crumbling ISIS defensive positions are all that remains between Damascus and a much awaited victory over multiple terrorist groups.

OUT-FUCKING-STANDING!!!!! Hit that filth! Hit them HARD!
I’d hazard a guess that this was not strictly necessary militarily, considering all the firepower that the SAA and RuAF have in the area.
But these clips play very well in alt and popular media in the West, and it is perfectly timed to drag some attention to Syria – and thus the liberation of Deir ez-Zor, which the Western MSM will be working very hard to ignore.
They’re certainly not short on ordnance delivery options, but cruise missiles can do things that vertically-dropped bombs find difficult – like penetrating the overhung entrance to an underground command point. What is worrying the Empire’s analysts is both the reliability being repeatedly demonstrated – and the size of the ships that are firing them. Kalibr is a modular missile – you assemble its various sections for the specific task at hand. These ones are tailored for long-range land-attack – but they can also be configured with a supersonic anti-ship final section. That ships of under 1,000 tons (!!) could fire… Read more »
That’s really VERY interesting. Thanks, There’s another thing I have noticed, as a complete novice, it is the reliability and short turn around time of the very small RuAF fleet in Syria. Those planes must be flying 3 or 4 sorties each, every day, and for months on end…! If this performance is true across the whole Russian air force it would imply that in terms of real potential combat flight time; the RuAF is actually the largest/most effective in the world…? I only say that since I read that US jets need so much care and love and maintenance… Read more »
You’re far from being the only one to have noticed the astonishing – even staggering – strike-rate achieved by that tiny number of aircraft… It was ‘assumed’ by complacent Western ‘experts’ that the rather crude-looking Russian aircraft would suffer severe unserviceability under combat conditions – particularly when operating under huge logistical constraints at the extreme edge of their area of operations. They were expecting them to lose one or two aircraft a day from ‘technical failures’. Instead, to their enduring credit, the men of the Aerospace Forces simply re-wrote the book on what it is possible to accomplish per pilot… Read more »

Thanks.. I always enjoy Russia showing their yank “partners” how to do it, yanks defeated again by Russia!
Won’t the SAA be sent to Raqqa to be SURE that the Kurds and US are routed out of Syria – and no foothold for Israel (terrorists by another name)?
Pity we don’t have any video of the end result. Bummer.
They might have had a drone positioned to give them a target-effectiveness assessment, so fingers crossed…
