MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian signed in Moscow on Friday a joint statement on the launch of the Trianon Dialogue, a bilateral civil society forum, Lavrov said at a press conference.

“We have just signed a statement on the launch of the Trianon Dialogue, that was an agreement of our presidents, reached in Versailles,”

Lavrov said.

He noted that the Trianon Dialogue would be a permanent structure of civil society aimed at boosting confidence and mutual understanding between two nations.

Lavrov added that co-chairs and secretaries of the forum would be chosen in the near future.

The idea to create a bilateral civil society forum was proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron on May 29 during the talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
