MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Czech ambassador to Russia Vladimir Remek told Sputnik he believed that the preservation of Russian gas transit route via Ukraine was necessary for Europe’s energy security.

Remek, when asked whether Prague supported the Nord Stream-2 pipeline project, said that the Czech Republic primarily supported the diversification of energy resources.

“As far as the diversification of energy transit routes are concerned, it is important for it to be real diversification, not just swapping one route for another. This is why the transit route via Ukraine is necessary for Europe’s energy security. Speaking of Nord Stream-2, the Czech Republic insists that the project not be implemented in violation of European laws,”

he said.

The problem with the old “Syphon Stream” gas pipeline that transits Ukraine is what goes in at one end isn’t what comes out at the other. Which adds to the overhead costs of gas, market fluctuations aside.

When the supply through Turkey comes on stream, surely that will solve the problem?? Meanwhile Russia is stuck between a rock and a hard place. As is necessary not to punish an entirely innocent Czech Republic and other European countries, supplies must still go through the thieving Ukraine for now. That’s just one of the dilemmas consequent from having a conscience, a rare or absent quality in the Western governing regimes, especially in Washington DC.

It’s up to you-lot (not Russia) to get and keep Ukraine on board.
If the pipelines are there Russia will deliver the gas. If they aren’t, YOU (not Russia) will freeze.
