George Oprisko
BS-Chm/Biol, Purdue 68, PhD, Indiana 74 goprisko@publicresearchinstitute.org Having majored in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology, and advanced mathematics, he was given the task of determining why Lake Monroe at Bloomington, IN had winter plankton blooms, but not summer ones. His keen observations, and geochemical training led to discovery of the reasons therefore. During his tenure at the Institute, he supervised and implemented systems development projects at Fortune 500 and smaller companies. These ranged up to 100 man- year efforts involving more than 90 personnel, and endowed the Institute with sufficient funds to conduct and complete the 15 year expedition to study the world's coral reef systems. This expedition internationalized the Institute, via creation of chapters in Auckland, Hong Kong, and Windhoek. His internationally recognized talents permitted him to contribute as Dean of International Programs at Shenzhen University, Editor of the Shenzhen Journal of Science and Technology, Professor of Engineering at Shenzhen University, consultant to TCL Corporation, IPO consultant to securities firms in Shanghai, robotics program manager at Forest Research Institute in Rotorua, NZ, and Executive Director of Africa GeoPower in Namibia and South Africa.. Given the magnitude of Anthroprogenic Climate Change, He feels the Institute must use it's Expertise in Quantitative Analysis,Operations Research, and Simulations to demonstrate the feasibility and desirability of conversion to 100% renewable power. He advocates distributed, off the shelf, renewable power production technologies suitable for dwellings, commercial buildings, farms, and industry. He was instrumental in initiating the City of Shenzhen's effort to install solar powered streetlights, and is pleased to note that today, China is among the largest producers of renewable powered streetlights, solar panels, and wind turbines.
