London’s chicken-obsessed mayor insults Donald Trump

Saddiq Khan, the Mayor of Greater London has a tendency to issue irritating statements against any and all anti-liberal politicians. First it was Jeremy Corbyn, Labour’s socialist leader to whom Khan issued backhanded insults through both of his victorious campaigns for the leadership of Khan’s own Labour party.

Then Khan insulted Donald Trump during Trump’s campaign, and now that Trump has won, he’s still at it. Khan has said that he will not visit the US now that Trump is President. What a pathetic and cowardly statement to make.

The idea that the mayor of one of the world’s most important cities has forbid himself from visiting New York, Chicago or Los Angles is farcical. In fact, there are often joint meetings of mayors of great cities, some of which take place in the US. Is Khan going to send his secretary or perhaps his cleaner to those?

Donald Trump responded by saying:

When he won, I wished him well. Now I don’t care about him. It doesn’t make any difference to me how he does.

He doesn’t know me, doesn’t know what I’m all about. I think they are very rude statements… Frankly tell him I will remember those statements. They are very nasty statements. It is ignorant for him to say that.

Khan’s ignorance is well documented. When he was an MP representing the south London area of Peckham, one of his ‘big ideas’ was to use government force to stop entrepreneurs, many of whom happen to be of Pakistani Muslim heritage, as he is, from opening up chicken restaurants in south London.

This threat incurred the wrath of Chicken Cottage, a now global franchise which was started by two KFC workers who wanted to create a Halal alternative for those who enjoy American style fried chicken but with the addition of flavors derived from Pakistan.

Chicken Cottage is now a British success story which donates and contributes greatly to the wider community. The business model Chicken Cottage established has inspired many others to start similar businesses. But Khan doesn’t want that.  He’s happy to be the mayor of a place which includes derelict, crime ridden and smut-filled areas, and his war on chicken seems to have been his true calling.

When Khan became mayor, I wrote to him about this and also congratulated him on his victory as Donald Trump did. The fact that he ignored me and insulted a magnanimous Trump, shows one that beyond just policy making, Saddiq Khan is a chicken.
