Nothing is out of bounds for liberals and progressives, and that includes attacking Michael Phelps so as to pressure him, and guilt him, into giving up his well deserved honor of carrying the American flag and leading his country’s athletes at the opening ceremony for the Rio Olympic games.
Michael Phelps, in the perverse and sick mind of a liberal progressive, is guilty of being the wrong color and the wrong sex…white and male.
It is for that reason that CNN’s W. Kamau Bell tried his best to remove Phelps from the opening ceremony, and replace him with the obscure and unknown women fencer, Ibtihaj Muhammad.
After Phelps was chosen by his peers and fellow Olympians to lead team US in Rio, the U.S. Olympic Team tweeted:
Just 24 hours away! ⏰https://t.co/afA85LUPgf
— U.S. Olympic Team (@TeamUSA) August 5, 2016
Ibtihaj Muhammad, a woman, an African-American and a Muslim came in second place in the team vote.
W. Kamau Bell, host of CNN’s “United Shades of America,” in an op-ed, described, the now 19 time gold medal winner, as a “tall, successful, rich white guy” who does not “need the honor” of carrying the US flag in Rio.
Does not “need the honor”, what about 100% deserves the honor more than any other Olympian alive.
Kamau Bell showed his nasty progressive values by going after Phelp’s personal life, in his effort to promote a lesser known, lesser decorated, and less interesting athlete.
“With 22 Olympic medals, you are already the most decorated athlete in Olympic history. You already know how America feels about you. We even forgave that youthful indiscretion of being photographed smoking from a water pipe of the type that is often used for smoking marijuana. And we have forgiven those other youthful indiscretions (even the one that happened two years ago when you weren’t that youthful).”
“With 22 Olympic medals, you are already the most decorated athlete in Olympic history,” he said.
But American fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad is a different story.
“Muhammad carrying the flag would be much bigger than your one moment,” Bell writes. “It would be a symbol for our country in this moment when we are mostly known for one of the most contentious, controversial, scandal-ridden, hateful, xenophobic, jingoistic, and just generally unlikable presidential elections in recent memory. This is at a time when we could use some more symbols of unity and togetherness.”
Bell referred to Muhammad as “a one-stop inclusion shop due to her race, sex and religion. Phelps, on the other hand was something else entirely.
“No offense, but right now America has enough tall, successful, rich white guys hogging the spotlight trying to make America great,” he said, in an obvious reference to Donald Trump.
Bell concluded by saying that Phelps’ stepping aside in favor of Muhammad was already a done deal.
“Again, thank you again for stepping aside for Ibtihaj Muhammad,” he wrote. “During these Olympics, you can win more medals to add to your all-time winning number of medals. But no medal will compare to making room for this.”
He was wrong on that one. Phelps carried the flag and led the delegation of American athletes at the opening ceremony.
So there we have it. Affirmative action should be adopted by the U.S. Olympic Committee — at least according to Bell.
Luckily many twitter users did not agree with the pathetic op-ed from CNN.
Michael Phelps Urged To Give Up Position As Olympic Flag Bearer. Next They’ll Want Him To Lose A Match To A Muslim. https://t.co/czJ5oFoSXX

Liberals Wanted Phelps To Give His Flag Bearer Position To A Muslim Woman https://t.co/6qh0zsNd0n Liberals…all symbolism…no substance.

Liberal progressives have trouble understanding and comprehending fact and reality.
The fact and reality is that there is no one else better qualified to carry the US flag than Michael Phelps. This is the what the Olympic spirit is all about, honoring athletes for their accomplishments, not their sex, color of skin, or religion. To do anything else would be racist.
